Umino Hotel Hajime Beppu Review

Umino Hotel Hajime Beppu, Beppu hotel review, Beppu onsen hotel, where to stay in Beppu, Beppu accommodation, Japan onsen hotel, Beppu ryokan hotel, hotel Beppu Japan

First Impressions and Check-in

Check-in starts at 3 PM. We arrived earlier, dropped our luggage at reception, and went out to explore Beppu before coming back later.

The hotel is well located, with direct access to the sea and a calm atmosphere compared to other areas of the city.

Price and Rooms

The total cost was 82,800 yen for the stay, which came down to around 13,800 yen per person.

We had two different types of rooms:

A traditional tatami room with futons
A modern Japanese-style room combining tatami space with real beds

This mix was perfect because it allowed us to experience both traditional and more comfortable setups.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and well designed, with a strong Japanese atmosphere while still being practical.

Onsen Experience

After visiting the Beppu Jigoku, we came back to the hotel by taxi and went straight to the onsen.

We changed into yukata and tried two different types of baths:

A private onsen room

A rooftop onsen with a sea view

The rooftop bath was clearly the highlight. Being in hot water while looking at the ocean creates a very calm and unique atmosphere.

Of course, no photos or videos are allowed in the onsen areas.

Dinner in the Room

Instead of eating out, we decided to order Coco Curry delivery and eat in the room. The total was 1,892 yen, which is very affordable compared to hotel dining. After that, we went to 7-Eleven to grab ice cream and a mango smoothie. This is something very common in Japan and honestly part of the experience.

Morning and Sunrise in Beppu

Beppu is also a great place to enjoy a quiet morning.

I woke up around 8 AM, so not exactly sunrise, but the view over the sea was still really nice. The light, the calm, and the sound of the ocean make it a very peaceful moment.

Umino Hotel Hajime was probably the best hotel of the trip.

The combination of traditional rooms, modern comfort, onsen quality, and sea view makes it a very strong choice if you are staying in Beppu.

If you want a relaxed experience with a real onsen atmosphere, this hotel is definitely worth it.
