Plan your Japan trip without

the overwhelm

Hi, I’m Marie

I’m Marie, the creator behind Tabimawari, a Japan travel planner originally from Reunion Island.

I lived in Kyoto for a year, learned Japanese, and kept returning to Japan for trips. Over time, I planned itineraries not only for myself, but also for friends and clients, adjusting routes, transport, and pacing until everything actually made sense on the ground.

That experience is what Tabimawari is built on.

Why I created Tabimawari

Planning a trip to Japan looks exciting at first.
Then it becomes overwhelming.

Too many tabs.
Too many videos.
Conflicting advice.
Itineraries that look good online but don’t work once you’re there.

Tabimawari was created to solve that exact problem.

Not by giving you more information, but by giving you structure.

Tabimawari comes from Japanese.
TABI means journey or travel.
MAWARI means to go around, to wander, to explore step by step.

As a whole word, tabimawari means traveling around, often moving in a loop or circuit, going from place to place and eventually returning, rather than going straight from A to B. Together, Tabimawari reflects the idea of traveling with intention, moving through places instead of rushing past them.

Everything started with a love story.
My love for travel, and a deep, long-standing connection to Japan. I’m originally from Reunion Island, and my adventure truly began with a full year dedicated to exploring Japan, its rhythms, its landscapes, and its culture. It was during that time that the concept of Tabimawari was born. Out of a desire to share the connection I had built with Japan, not as a checklist of places, but as an experience.

Naturally, I started guiding close friends and family through Japan. I planned their trips, adapted routes to their pace, and showed them a side of the country that felt personal and grounded. Those itineraries became a bridge, connecting the people I loved to the heart of Japan, shaped around their interests and the way they wanted to travel.

That’s how Tabimawari took form.

Through Tabimawari, I share real experiences, local insights, and curated guides to help you travel deeper, not just further. It’s about slow discovery, cultural connection, and paying attention to the small details that make a trip feel meaningful.

This philosophy guides everything I create, from the travel guide to fully personalized itineraries.

What makes my approach different

Coming from La Réunion, travel was never about ticking boxes or rushing through places.
It was about choosing intentionally and moving at the right pace.

That mindset shaped how I plan trips.

I don’t build itineraries based on trends or copied lists.
I build them based on real travel logic.

That means:
• Days that actually fit
• Routes that avoid backtracking
• Areas chosen to save time, not waste it
• A balance between must-see places and personal moments

What I offer

The Japan Travel Guide

The guide is the foundation of Tabimawari.

It’s designed for travelers who want to plan their trip themselves, but with the right tools from the start.

Inside the guide, you’ll find:
• Curated places across Japan
• Clear city itineraries you can adapt
• An interactive map
• Offline access
• Practical planning tips

It’s not a fixed plan.
It’s a flexible base that helps you build a trip that matches your vibe, pace, and interests.

100% Personalized Japan Itineraries

Some trips need more than a guide.

For that reason, I also offer fully personalized itineraries.

This service is for travelers who want everything planned for them, based on:
• Their travel style
• Their priorities
• Their dates and pace
• Their level of comfort

I design the itinerary from scratch, making sure every day flows naturally and works in real conditions.

Same method as the guide.
Just fully adapted to you.

Who this is for

Tabimawari is for travelers who:
• Want to avoid planning stress
• Prefer structure over endless options
• Want a trip that feels personal, not generic
• Want to travel Japan with confidence

Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with family, the goal stays the same.

The philosophy behind Tabimawari

Travel isn’t about checking boxes.

It’s about coming back and thinking:
“That trip felt like me.”

That’s the goal. Always.
